Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when you hire a character for a kids' birthday party?
They show up on time in full costume, make a big entrance, play games, sing and dance with the kids (varies by age group), make your birthday kid feel special, and take a photo with every kid.
How much does it cost to hire a party character in the Bay Area?
One character is $240 for 60 minutes, $290 for 90 minutes and $340 for 2 hours. Each extra character costs $35 less, travel is free in 11 cities, and you see the full price before you book.
How long should I book a character for?
Choose 60, 90 or 120 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the booking form. Longer parties are available by request. Call us at 408-409-5730.
Will the character lead activities, or do I have to?
Yes. They keep the kids busy the whole time with games, stories, songs and dancing (varies by age group). You won't have to do anything.
My child is shy or scared of costumes. What should I do?
Totally normal. Tell us when you book. The character comes in slow and lets your kid warm up. No jumping in anyone's face.
Will it look like a cheap costume?
No. Legit costumes and wigs, and they stay in character the whole time. The photos on our site are our real characters.
What ages are character visits for?
Most parties are for ages 3 and up, and little ones are welcome too.
Which Bay Area cities do you cover? Is travel extra?
Travel is free in 11 cities and $25 per performer everywhere else we go. It is shown in your total before you book.
Free: Campbell, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Milpitas.
+$25: Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, Portola Valley, Woodside, Redwood City, Fremont, Newark, Morgan Hill, San Carlos, Belmont, Foster City, San Mateo, Burlingame, Union City, Hayward, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Martin and Gilroy.
Can I request a specific character, or two?
Yes. Pick a character in the form, or choose Other to request one. Each additional character adds $205, $255 or $305 for a 60-, 90- or 120-minute visit, respectively. We'll confirm availability before booking. Need more than 4 characters? Call us at 408-409-5730.
Can I add face painting or balloon animals?
Yes. Face painting and balloon animals are $40 each, glam makeup is $80, and hair styling is $60. The character does them during the visit.
How many kids can one character entertain?
One character comfortably handles about 25 kids. For bigger groups, add a second so every kid gets a turn.
Should I tip the performer?
Tips are optional but strongly encouraged, and go straight to your performer.
How far ahead should I book?
Spring and fall weekends fill 3 to 6 weeks ahead. Book as soon as you know your date.
Does the form book or charge me?
No. This form sends a request. It does not charge you or reserve the date. We confirm availability first, then email you a payment link. You have 24 hours to pay the booking fee, and paying it locks your date. The rest is paid to your performer on the day by cash, Venmo, or check. See our Cancellation Policy.
